Development Services Department
There are four divisions under the department: Economic Development, Planning & Zoning, Code Enforcement, and Community Development. The department administers and enforces the City's Zoning Ordinance, Comprehensive Plan, and adopted Uniform Building Codes, as well as providing Staff services to the Planning Commission, Marietta Historic Preservation Commission, Marietta Development Authority, Marietta Historic Board of Review, the Downtown Marietta Development Authority and the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Economic Development
The City of Marietta Economic Development Division fosters the growth and vitality of the local economy through the attraction and retention of quality business and industry. Economic Development also facilitates redevelopment using a citizen-centered approach that ensures integrity, innovation, and responsiveness.
Development Assistance
The City of Marietta, Georgia - in cooperation with the Development Authority of Marietta, Georgia and the Downtown Marietta Development Authority - offers development assistance and public investment through incentives in support of public-private partnerships developed between the City and participating developers.
Permits
Building permits are required for all new construction, temporary buildings and for alterations to existing construction. Certain systems will require additional permits as well.
Business Licenses
All businesses operating within the city limits of Marietta must have a current business license.
